Volunteer your time

We always need help at the office, the First Steps Resource Center and at the special events we produce every year. Check out these volunteer opportunities to see how you can help.

Fundraising Events
Work with the Executive Director and other staff on fundraising projects. Duties may include clerical assignments, making phone calls, running project-related errands, and public relations. Examples of ongoing or annual fundraising events include our signature Valentine’s Ball, and the Annual Appeals.

Special Event Volunteers
Volunteer to assist with special projects. These may include special in-house projects or development and public relations events. This type of volunteering can be in conjunction with other positions, if desired. Examples of ongoing special events include the Annual Community Meeting, and The Week of the Young Child.

First Step Resource Center Volunteers
Volunteer to help out in the Resource Center at Northeastern Technical College. Computer skills would be a real plus for the parents and child care providers who use the Center.

Group Volunteers
Choose to volunteer with your group. We have a need for civic, church and school groups to provide refreshments and food for our program participants in training and other events. We also encourage groups to "adopt" the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library or the Resource Center as an ongoing project, and encourage creativity and diversity in their volunteerism.

New Project
New programs such as Reach Out and Read may be started with dedicated volunteers. Choose to read to young children in physicians offices in the community.
