You are your child's first teacher

As a parent, you are your children's first teacher—and that's a very big job. The first five years of a child's life are the most important in terms of his or her brain development, and you need to make sure that you are doing everything that you can to make learning a part of your family life.

We have put together some information that you may find helpful to you as you work to get your child ready for the first day of school.

Services for Parents
Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. The nurturing and care a child receives from the family sets the foundation for a child’s future. First Steps family support services and parent education are available to all families with young children. However, special attention is given to families whose life circumstances make it more challenging to provide the environment their children need and deserve. First Steps provides families with the education, information and resources they need as their child’s first and most important teacher.
